Westfalia Technological Services (WTS) consists of a team of dedicated scientists specialising in improving avocado and mango cultivation technology. These scientists work hand in hand with Westfalia Nursery and Westfalia Agribusiness to ensure that leading edge technology and methods are implemented. Since its inception in 1988, the WTS team has brought considerable benefits not only to Westfalia Agribusiness but, also to the South African and international avocado and mango industries.

Some of WTS's notable achievements include:

• Africa's largest collection of avocado genetic material under evaluation, with new cultivars being added continuously;
• Development of the high yielding avocado rootstock Dusa™ (Merensky 2) rootstock which has proven to have superior Phytophthora cinnamomi root rot and salinity tolerance;
• Extensive range of new cultivars under test agreement;
• Plant Breeder's Rights obtained for various new cultivars, both in South Africa and abroad;
• Development of solutions to horticultural and pathological problems faced in avocado cultivation
